Cabin recluse

I have been given a gentle prodding from the MIL that news from our direction has been sparse lately.

It begins with my self imposed pull back from spending so much of my days reading facebook, forums, etc.. I have been more solitary lately. Focusing more on our little world and family than on the larger world around us. A calm, more content life together.

Mike went to Dragon*Con on the Sept long weekend with Amy & Jared. They all seemed to have a good time. It was also nice that they came in a day earlier so we all got to spend a day together before I saw them all disappear into downtown Atlanta from Thursday to Monday noon. Well, Amy & Jared spent Thursday in Atlanta while Mike & I were home after getting his pass so they could have some alone tine as it was technically their honeymoon.

Once I picked Mike up on Monday, we spent the rest of the day and Tuesday morning playing some EQ2 together before getting in the car and heading for our mini vacation.

We rented a little cabin up near Dahlongea, GA. It was an older cabin but nice, clean and functional. We picked it because it had a hot tub in the cabin rather than outside. It was very nice and just what we were looking for.

We were just looking to get away and relax a little away from work, technology and having to do anything specific for a few days.

Mike read a lot... in bed with tea... in the hot tub... on the couch. He had a great time just relaxing and getting some reading in.

I scrapped a page about it yesterday here: http://www.designhousedigital.com/gallery/decorator-gallery/p4756-relaxing-with-a-book.html

We also went and did some hiking on Thursday and Friday to see some very nice waterfalls. I haven't looked at those photos yet so they will be to come soon.

Hiking in the GA mountains isn't quite what we are used to as "mountain hiking". It was still in the mid 80s for temperature and very humid. Nothing like the cool, refreshing mountain hiking we have done before. However, it still smelled and sounded great.

When we got back on Friday after, we began playing EQ2 again as that is what Mike requested to do for the remainder of his holiday before going back to work on Monday. He wanted help with his new little healer toon - a warden. We did very well and learned a lot of new instances thanks to a new online friend I met when they were all at Dragon*Con and I was home alone.

So not a lot new around here. We resume our training at the gym tonight after a 2 week break for Dragon*Con and then our holiday.

Aside from Mike waking with a sore throat this morning, we all seem to be well and healthy.

Until the waterfall photos...

I'm glad you had a great time relaxing and spending time with Mike. It's also nice to just spend those moments focusing on your little world instead of the big one. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself! Good luck at the gym :)
