Couponing again... this is kinda fun

I have been couponing again and this is kinda fun... I am liking the checkout prices for my carts much better! Two weeks and two trips to Target where I have left with a good number of items (which we will use) for under $20.00!

Yesterday I sat down and printed out some coupons and got them organized to go to the stores; Target and CVS. I decided this week would be my first week to check out what all the buzz about CVS and their ECB (Extra Bucks) was about.

So I went into CVS, took a couple of minutes to fill out the form to get myself one of their CVS ExtraCare cards. Then I set out to pick up some deals. Here is what I ended up with:

2, 4-pack Dt. Pepsi cans @ $1.25 reg each $1.00 sale each for a total of $0.50 savings on something we are cutting out of our lives but isn't completely gone yet and is a big money sink for us
a box of Betty Crocker Brownie mix @ $2.39 reg $1.00 sale for a savings of $1.39
a bottle of Old Spice Head and Body Wash @ $4.99 reg $4.00 sale + $4.00 in ECB for a net cost of FREE
a Schick Hydro 5 Razoe @ $9.99 reg $8.97 sale + $4.00 in ECB + 8.97 Schick mail in rebate for a net MONEY MAKER of $4.00
2, Right Guard Total Defense 5 Deoderants @ $4.49 reg each BOGO sale + $3.00 off on purchase of 2 coupon for a net cost for the 2 of them of $1.49

Total Regular Cost of above items: $23.96
Total Price with CVS Card Savings: $20.46 + $8.00 in Extra Bucks = $12.46
Total Price with CVS Card and $3.00 Manufacturer Coupon: $9.46
Total Sale Price with Coupons and Rebates: $0.49

Yes, really!! After sales, coupons, Extra Bucks and mail in rebate, all of the above cost me less than a dollar. CVS, you are my new hero.

Target had some good deals as well this week but my total still ended up being a fair bit larger than what my net cost at CVS was.

Here is what I picked up at Target:

Glade Air and Fabric Freshener @ $3.54 reg $0.54 after coupons ($2.00 Target + $1 Manufacturer)
Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Spray @ $6.99reg MONEY MAKER $1.01 after sale and coupons (it appears this week Target has this reduced down to $6.99 from $8.69 last week + $3.00 Target coupon + $5.00 manufacturer coupon... I was expecting it to be another $0.69 bottle but I sure won't complain about making money on the purchase!!)
Shout bottle @ $1.97 reg $0.42 after coupons ($1.00 Target + $0.55 Manufacturer)
Twizzlers @ $2.99 reg $2.49 sale $1.99 after coupons ($0.50 Target)
2 Old El Paso Taco Seasoning @ $0.65 reg each $0.35 each after coupon ($0.60 Manufacturer on purchase of 2)

Total Reg Cost at Target: $46.62

I would love to do coupons BUT we are limited on stores here. it is Wal Mart or Wal Mart. Nothing else.

LOL - yes, the word of coupon clipping can be quite addictive - but in a good way. It's amazing the deals you can find with just a little searching. Just wait until you go through the checkout that first time when they owe YOU money back - the look on the cashier's face is priceless!

hehe, I bet! I was surprised when I looked back on my Target one as it was even lower than I had figured it should be to find that I made money on that shower spray... they paid me a $1 to take it home?! Mike also liked hearing about that one, his face was priceless :)
