Stella put up photos of our project yesterday... making the official Kinley Marie bag for noone other than Miss Kinley herself. Stella included adorable photos of Kinley wearing it this morning on her blog if you would like to check it out.
Here is a close up of the embroidery applique that she made on her new embroidery machine to put on the front pocket of the backpack.
If you check out the backpack photos on her blog, please check out how well we matched up the prints that the pocket & main front body match! I know it is something small but it looks so sweet. This morning, I had planned to do some scrapping but yesterday's project had my mind going over and over... I am still trying to figure out how to make my pattern quicker and easier to sew together. I think I came up with some things that are really going to help shave a lot of time off as well as eliminate the need for a number of steps off and make it easier to sew together. The previous method involved a lot of sewing of many, many layers together which was difficult because of how thick that ended up being in some areas.
We are trying to get Stella to open up an Etsy shop and start selling her sewing (& now embroidery too!) projects. At the moment, ideas for projects being thrown around are toddler backpacks, aprons, ruffle pants for kids, coordinating monogrammed (like embroidery applique above with or without the full name under it) tshirts for kids...
If you were looking to buy sewing items, what would you be interested in?
What price range would you be looking for the items to be between?
Have you bought sewn items from Etsy or someone's blog before? If so, what & for how much? How was the quality of the sewing?
I would really appreciate any input and suggestions as I think Stella would make beautiful items and think she just needs a little nudging that this could really be rewarding for her to give a go at. Kinley is the best dressed toddler I know!
