I finished off little Drew's felt playhouse the other night and got it packaged up and mailed off yesterday. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow or Saturday so hopefully it does as that would time it about perfect for his upcoming birthday.
I have completed one set of rag alphabet letters (sitting in the clean laundry bin after having had their "distressing" wash) but need to start on the other set I have planned to make. I want to at least get started on them to see how I like the other fabric combination before I decide which set to give to Maise and which set to give to Kinley. I currently have the green wobbly felt backed ones done and the other set will have a pretty orange damask backing.
I began making them for Maise and decided I would do 2 sets so that I would have a set to give Kinley as well as she should be ready to begin learning to spell in not that long. However, the fabric combinations I have picked out, I am thinking that the first set (which is complete) would be a good one for Kinley & their house decor and the other set (not yet started) would be more of a color combo that would appeal to Erin (Maise's mom) so that means to accomplish the task I began out to do, I need to complete the second set shortly as well. They don't take all that terribly long to do and weren't hard to do or anything... the only problem I ran into is that they are hard on my fingers with how much hand cutting they take. The inside of a couple of my fingers are fairly raw from all the cutting that I would like to give them a little rest to recover. Next set, I will be sure to use moleskin or gloves to keep it from being so hard on the skin.
I also made a little art case to match Kinley's backpack the other day. It turned out well. I know what I would do a little different next time but I like how it looks. And even better, it already seems to work well as a distraction for keeping Kinley a little occupied in restaurants until our food comes... which is good as we seem to have a fair number of slow restaurants in our area. The adults begin to lose patience so it must be even harder on Kinley and she does really well.
Hmmm... still have a number of things left on my sewing todo list & having a ball completing them... but I also need to find some time to get a few more scrapbooking pages done. I am getting to have quite the backlog of photos to scrap including a number from these various projects.
My sewing todo list currently...
- another rag alphabet letter set
- another snugglie
- modify & design a pair of toddler jeans to match what I have pictured in my mind
- a coordinating top to go with the toddler jeans
- modify a ready made tshirt into a coordinating top to go with the toddler jeans
- make a pvc clothing frame for displaying the clothing sets on
- modify another pattern for a toddler dress
- make some felt flower hair clips
Time for a nap & then more scrapping :) I *think* I have my ADSR5 race challenges now caught up so I can work on doing some unrestricted, fun scrapping.. and I have lots of great new releases from Design House Digital just waiting for me!!
